QHSE Coordinator

Role Overview

As a key member of the leadership team, you will lead safety, quality, and environmental excellence across workshops and projects. This is a practical, hands-on role suited for a leader who thrives in an SME environment, takes direct accountability for outcomes, and is comfortable working closely with ownership and management. You will be responsible for strengthening the safety culture and driving continuous improvement to achieve zero harm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety Leadership: Provide proactive leadership of QHSE standards across all operations, specifically leading safety outcomes on-site.

  • Regulator & Compliance: Lead practical engagement with WHS regulators (such as SafeWorkSA), manage incident investigations, and implement corrective actions.
  • ISO Systems Management: Maintain and improve the Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001), ensuring audit readiness and system compliance.
  • Dangerous Goods: Manage the handling, storage, and risk controls for dangerous goods, ensuring full SDS (Safety Data Sheet) compliance.
  • Shop-Floor Engagement: Lead and communicate effectively across a multicultural workforce, delivering training and driving safety culture through regular observations and engagement.
  • Risk & Auditing: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and internal audits with a solutions-focused approach.

  • Documentation: Keep company policies up to date with current legislation and manage compliance registers and performance reporting.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Manufacturing Exposure: Minimum 4+ years of experience in a production or factory setting (not solely office-based or consulting roles).
  • ISO Expertise: Proven experience operating within ISO-certified environments (9001/14001/45001).
  • Dangerous Goods: Practical experience managing hazardous substances and storage requirements.
  • Workforce Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead diverse, multicultural teams in a practical shop-floor environment.
  • Stable History: Evidence of consistent tenure and commitment in previous roles, ideally within SME or operational environments.
  • Compliance: Must have a current National Police Certificate and the right to work in Australia.
